Bio

Anne Marie Guchardi holds a Bachelor of Fine Art Studies from York University, Toronto, and a diploma in Art Conservation Techniques from Sir Sandford Fleming College, Peterborough.  As part of the college’s three year program she completed a 1 year internship in the Textile Conservation Laboratory of the State Conservation Centre of South Australia, now Artlab Australia.

As a conservator in private practice, Anne Marie provided conservation services, for a number of cultural heritage institutions including City of Toronto, Arts and Culture division, The Ontario Heritage Trust, and the Archives of Ontario.

Anne Marie first came to the ROM in 1998 on a one year Canadian Association of Conservators’ sponsored, mid-career internship, developing costume mounting techniques for the ROM exhibit: Corsets to Calling Cards. 

In subsequent years, Anne Marie was awarded ROM contracts in Global Fashion and Textiles, Ancient Near East, Global Africa, and Indigenous Americas departments, performing conservation treatment, collections storage upgrading, and costume mounting.

Anne Marie is entering her sixth year as a full time Textile Conservator at the Royal Ontario Museum.

Her most recent work involved preparing objects for the ROM exhibitions:  Christian Dior, and The Cloth that Changed the World.
