Smartphone Photography
Saturday, January 25, 2025, 1:00 pm - 4:00 pm
Explore the impressive functionality of cell phone cameras in this interactive half-day workshop with professional photographer Ankur Khurana. Advances in technology have put powerful computers and cameras in our pockets, making quality photography more accessible than ever. Taking inspiration from ROM’s permanent galleries, learn the basic principles of cell phone photography: tips for best lens use, how to maximize on-phone editing capabilities, and pointers on how to best frame and light subject(s). Build the skills and confidence to take dynamic images and prepare to leave with the ability to integrate high quality photography into your daily life.
Participants will be required to bring a fully charged cell phone, and we recommend a charging cable and wall adapter.
Instructor: Ankur Khurana
Ankur Khurana has been captivated by photography since childhood, starting with a mini camera gifted by his father at age 7 that he used to capture insects in the abundantly diverse parks of New Delhi. Over time, his passion evolved from portraits, events, and landscapes to his true love—bird photography. Now an award-winning wildlife photographer and writer, Ankur’s work is deeply rooted in wildlife conservation. As a full-time storyteller with Feather Friendly, he combines his imagery and writing to raise awareness about bird-glass collisions and promote sustainable solutions. His personal portfolio can be viewed at www.ankurkhurana.ca.
