Digital Membership Cards

Digital membership cards are a convenient and environmentally friendly alternative to plastic cards.

Digital membership cards provide quick links to the Member login—where you can register for events—the ROM website, contact information, and Museum hours. Plus, you never have to worry about forgetting your membership card when you visit the Museum as you can just scan your digital card on your phone at the entrance.

What are digital membership cards?

Digital membership cards can be downloaded and saved to your smartphone. Going digital means you never have to worry about forgetting your membership card again and as well, it is more environmentally friendly.

When will I receive my digital membership card?

After joining or renewing your ROM membership, you will receive an email within 2-3 weeks with a link to download your card. You do not have to wait for your digital membership card to begin enjoying the Museum. Simply go online and reserve your Member tickets using the email and password you set up to purchase or renew your membership. How do I add the digital membership card to my iPhone?

  1. Access the email from your mobile phone and click the "Download" button:

  2. click "Add to Apple Wallet" and "Add."
    Step 02. click Add to Apple Wallet and Add.
    The card will automatically go to your iPhone’s Apple Wallet where it can be accessed at any time.

How do I add the digital membership card to my Android phone?

Android users need to make sure Google Wallet (also known as Google Pay or Gpay) is installed.

  • Access the email from your mobile phone and click “Download” 
    Access the email from your smartphone and click Download and choose to Add to WalletPasses or Save to Google Wallet.
  • Click on “Save to Google Wallet” and “Add”

  • The card will automatically be saved to your Google Wallet app, where it can be accessed at any time. In some cases, Google Wallet might ask you to log in so you can save it to an account. Please log in to continue (no credit card information should be required).

I have a second cardholder on my membership. How can they receive their digital membership card?

Both primary and secondary cardholders are listed on your digital membership card. Please follow the steps below to share your digital membership card with the second cardholder named on your membership.

  • IOS
    Navigate to the back of the card (tap on the "..." button on the front), then tap on the share icon at the top right to send the card to your secondary cardholder.
    If you are an iOS user, you will find the share icon at the top right on the back of the card.

  • Android
    Unfortunately, at this time, there is no way to send the membership card to the secondary cardholder in the Google Wallet app. You will need to forward your Welcome email to the secondary cardholder for installation. 

Why am I seeing both cardholder names on my digital membership card.

For memberships with two named cardholders, digital membership cards are issued with both cardholder names.

I didn't receive my email with my digital membership card download information.

Please email us at membership@rom.on.ca or call us at 416-586-5700 and we will be happy to send you a new email with a link to download your card.

I have a Caregiver add-on on my membership. Can they get a digital membership card too?

Unfortunately, we cannot generate digital membership cards for add-on guests or Caregivers at this time. Please reserve tickets for your Caregiver and children online and have your Caregiver present their tickets along with ID at the entrance.

I'd prefer not to use this digital membership card, what should I do?

When it is time for you to renew your membership, if you wish, you can request to receive a printed membership card in addition to your digital card. To reduce our use of plastic, membership cards will be printed on recyclable cardstock, and may take three to four weeks to arrive by mail. Please email us at membership@rom.on.ca or call us at 416-586-5700 for details.

I don't have a mobile phone, what can I do?

When it is time for you to renew your membership, if you wish, you can request to receive a printed membership card in addition to your digital card.
