Celebrate South Asian Heritage Weekend at the ROM Live Performances, Interactive Tours, Creative Activities, and more!
Celebrate South Asian Heritage Weekend at the ROM on Saturday, May 31 and Sunday, June 1, 2014 with a full weekend of activities including:
· Live music and dance performances from a range of talented South Asian acts (Saturday 10:00 am to 3:00 pm and Sunday 10:00 am to 1:30 pm in Samuel Hall Currelly Gallery)
· Take a guided tour of the ROM’s galleries that highlights 350 of the most intriguing South Asian objects (Saturday 1:00 pm, 1:30pm and 2:00 pm Sunday 11;00 am, 11:30 am, 1:00 pm, and 2:00pm. Meet in Hyacinth Gloria Chen Court)
· Participate in Islamic calligraphy workshops, henna art demonstrations, woodblock painting from Pakistan and more (10:00 am to 4:00 pm in Peter F. Bronfman Hall)
· View a selection of South Asian films programmed by the Toronto Reel Asian Film Festival (10:00 am, 12:00 pm, 12:30 pm, 1:00 pm, 1:45 pm and 3:15 pm-Signy & Cléophée Eaton Theatre, Level B1 - East)
· Join interactive workshops exploring featured artifacts and stories from ROM teachers (11:00 am to 3:00 pm- Sir Christopher Ondaatje South Asian Gallery)
· Kids can explore South Asian Culture through the Microsoft Interactive Gaming Stations (11:00 am to 4:00 pm- Queen’s Park Rotunda)
