TORONTO, Dec. 17, 2021 – Royal Ontario Museum (ROM) remains open during the holiday season, operating in accordance with Ontario Public Health guidelines. The Museum will be open on the following schedule and hours.
HOLIDAYS HOURS OF OPERATION:
December 24, 2021 – Open from 10:00 am to 5:30 pm.
December 25 & 26, 2021 – Closed.
December 27, 2021 to January 2, 2022 – Open daily from 10:00 am to 5:30 pm.
January 3 & 4, 2022 – Closed.
HOLIDAYS HIGHLIGHTS
New! Willner Madge Gallery, Dawn of Life: Unveiled this month, the first-of-its-kind gallery explores early life on Earth and 4 billion years of evolution—life before the rise of dinosaurs. Grand in scope and thrilling in experience, this gallery delves into life’s journey, a palaeontological diary spanning wondrous beginnings through devastating extinctions. With 10,000 square feet of gallery space, Dawn of Life features almost 1,000 fossil specimens from 4 billion to 200 million years ago.
Last chance! The Cloth that Changed the World: India’s Painted and Printed Cottons: Closing on January 2, this ROM original exhibition features textiles from its collections on display for the first time in 50 years. Explore the museum’s world-renowned collection of Indian chintz through themes of trade, craft, human rights, and the environment. Visitors can also discover companion installation Florals: Desire and Design, closing on January 3.
Last chance! Breaking the Frame: New Directions in Photo History: Featuring more than 90 original and vintage prints that inspire new and unconventional approaches to photo history, this special exhibition is a rare opportunity to experience original 19th and 20th century photography with a global perspective that pushes the viewer’s understanding beyond the conventional.

Admission to the Museum is limited and time ticketed. Tickets should be purchased online to book a time slot. All visitors ages 12 and older must show proof of vaccinations when entering the Museum. See the online Visitor Guidelines for the most current COVID-19 protocols.
