Log Cabin Patchwork with Johanna Masko (with machine rental)
Saturday, November 9, 2024, 10:30 am - 4:30 pm
Enjoy a day of play with colour and cotton, Log Cabin quilt style!
Award-winning quilt maker Johanna Masko leads a full day workshop that focuses on helpful techniques and best practices for piecing together a traditional Log Cabin block design. Often blending the frugal use of materials with a bold, visual impact, the Log Cabin block has long been a favourite with quilters.
Students will learn a variety of efficient preparation and construction methods, then apply them to build a batch of Log Cabin quilt blocks from scratch. Explore the creative possibilities in deliberate colour and value placement and experiment with dynamic patchwork layouts that incorporate unique, individual style.
Registrants should have basic sewing skills and be familiar with working on a sewing machine.
Note: This is a patchwork technique workshop. Students will work on several Log Cabin blocks which can be completed into a project of their choice at home.
