In conjunction with the ROM’s Dead Sea Scrolls exhibition,
Chef Eran Marom cooks elegantly kosher on December 10
In association with the ongoing Green Gastronomy program of c5 Restaurant Lounge, the Royal Ontario Museum (ROM) welcomes chef Eran Marom, owner and chief chef of Marron Bistro Moderne on Thursday evening, December 10 from 6:30 - 9:30pm. Thanks to his association with a Toronto-based kosher butcher who supplies top quality local beef, lamb, fowl and fish, Marom honours Green Gastronomy’s sustainable mandate while creating a unique, European, kosher menu for the evening’s diners. The evening is under full supervision of the Kashruth Council of Canada (COR) and costs $150.00 with wine service and $120.00 without wine, taxes and gratuities included.
Maron’s menu is a celebration of the ROM’s current Dead Sea Scrolls: Words that Changed the World, an exhibition showcasing one the greatest archaeological finds of the 20th century: the Dead Sea Scrolls. Concealed in desert caves above the salt-laden waters of the Dead Sea until their 1947 discovery, the 2,000 year old Dead Sea Scrolls are the earliest record of biblical patriarchs and prophets known to Judaism, Christianity and Islam. The exhibition is on display until January 3, 2010.
About the chef:
Named as “Chef to Watch” in last year’s Toronto Life, and this year’s Gourmet Food & Wine Expo’s “Nine of Dine”, Eran Marom began cooking as a teenager in Haifa, Israel where he was born in 1980. He studied in Lyon, France and worked under renowned chefs throughout Europe and North America, including Daniel Boulud, New York City. Marom embraced the kosher lifestyle four years ago, about the time he settled in Toronto. Today, he is the chef and co-owner of Marron Bistro Moderne, a kosher fine dining restaurant in Toronto. He advises, “I’m on a mission to bring kosher food to the wider community.” Visit www.marronbistro.com for more information on Marron Bistro Moderne.
