Award-winning C5 Restaurant Lounge launches new bar menu with a contest for its new signature drink

The Great ROMtini Search is on! The award-winning C5 Restaurant Lounge at the Royal Ontario Museum (ROM), is asking patrons and Museum visitors to help choose the lounge’s new signature drink. This event marks the launch of some exciting new initiatives in C5, including a delicious new bar menu and a Friday prix-fixe dinner.

Participants in the ROMtini Search are invited to C5 on Friday, February 15 and 22 from 5 to 10 pm to purchase a flight of three one-ounce “weeny-tini” finalists (for $12 plus taxes and gratuities) then submit a ballot with their comments. The winner will be unveiled by ROM Director and CEO William Thorsell and a panel of special guests on Friday, February 29. The selected ROMtini will be a new feature of the C5 cocktail menu.

“What is a city without a great defining cocktail?” said William Thorsell. “C5 is among Toronto's finest restaurants and lounges perched above the avant-garde Michael Lee-Chin Crystal at the ROM. Put it all together, and the ROMtini is an inevitable assignment requiring creativity and taste. On Leap Day, 2008, a star is born.”

The Great ROMtini Search celebrates the launch of C5’s new bar menu with delicious and affordable options for a light dinner available Thursday, Friday and Saturday evenings from 5 to 10 pm. Highlight menu items include ricotta and potato gnocchi with duck prosciutto, as well as C5’s signature poutine with curried fois gras and roaring forties blue cheese. The bar menu can be enjoyed in the lounge, which features sumptuous soft leather lounge seating and an original glass art installation to set the mood for intimate social gatherings and cool conversation.

In mid-February, the C5 lounge is also introducing a new four-course prix-fixe dinner menu Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights featuring: an appetizer, main course, cheese selection and a C5 signature dessert, all for $69 plus tax and gratuities. The menu items change weekly, depending on the availability of the best and freshest local, artisanal ingredients. A dinner in the lounge is complemented by a new cocktail menu featuring both classic and original concoctions created by C5’s expert mixologists, including the new ROMtini.

The restaurant’s elegant interior, designed by II BY IV Design Associates, recently tied for top honours in the Sit-Down Restaurant category of the 37th annual Institute of Store Planners/VM+SD International Store Design Competition. C5 was the only Canadian project to receive an award in the highly-respected international competition.

C5 Restaurant Lounge is a stunning 120-seat venue located at the pinnacle (Level 5) of the new Michael Lee-Chin Crystal. A unique dining destination, C5 provides superlative gastronomic experiences in a sophisticated environment. Accessible from Bloor Street for dinner through its own dedicated entrance, the dining room at C5 is open daily for à la carte lunch, on Sundays for brunch and from Thursday to Saturday for à la carte dinner service.
