ROM BIG WEEKEND: Wild Science

September 19 to 20, 2015

This special weekend is jam-packed with programs and themed activities for visitors of all ages. Paleo stars, farm animals (including live sheep on the ROM’s Plaza), and music come together to inspire ROM visitors to learn more about the science of our natural world.

WHAT:        ROM BIG WEEKEND: Wild Science features events, hands-on activities, and live experiments that explore the wild world of science. Learn how ROM conservators restore and preserve ancient artworks and artifacts; get up close with live birds from the Ontario Specialized Species Centre; discover sound science experiments with theremin and wave drums; and discover thermal camera technology.

WHO:          ROM curators and guest scientists including Sheldon John, the ROM’s aquarium keeper, Egyptologist Deirdre Keheler, and an appearance by musician Barry Prophet, sharing the science of gestural music and sonography. The Prince of Wales’s Campaign for Wool launches 2015 Canadian Wool Week, on Friday, September 18, 2015, from 10:00 am to 11:30 am, on the ROM Bloor Street Plaza, featuring live sheep, a knitting circle, and industry spokespeople.

                   The ROM is open from 10:00 am to 5:30 pm on these days

                   Big Weekend activities run from 11:00 am to 4:00 pm
