The (Fashion) Doctors will see you …

Unique event, part of the ROM100 Speaks series, takes place on Nov. 12

A garment is created – live on stage

As part of the ROM100 Speaks series at the Royal Ontario Museum (ROM), you are invited to make an appointment on Wednesday, November 12 at 7:00 pm with the Fashion Doctors, the ROM’s own Alexandra Palmer and guest speaker Timo Rissanen.

While Timo creates a piece of clothing using one full piece of muslin, fitted to a live model on stage, Alexandra will use images from the ROM’s collection and archival sources to explain how cloth has been draped, cut, and sewn to make incredibly different kinds of fashions. By the demonstration’s end, Timo will have produced a 3D garment from a 2D piece of cloth and Alexandra will have explored how such transformations have occurred across time and cultures. The special evening concludes with the opportunity to speak with the Fashion Doctors during a sparkling wine reception.
