The late Harold Robert Stankaitis was always strong in his conviction that ROM is a cultural haven that will be around forever to inspire the next generation. Thanks to a generous gift-in-kind from his estate, his vision will come true.
Harold was a lifelong avid art collector with a special interest in European art from the 18th century Neoclassical period. He bequeathed a number of art prints, engravings, ceramics and artworks to ROM, several of which were added to the Museum’s permanent collections. The remaining items were entrusted into the care of thoughtful collectors through A. H. Wilkens Auctions & Appraisals, with the proceeds going to support ROM’s highest priorities.
Harold’s connection to ROM was humble, yet it stems from a profound recognition of the importance of sharing his love and passion for art with the world. His collection is a priceless gift that will be treasured by everyone. ROM is deeply grateful to the Stankaitis Estate, and values its responsibility to steward and preserve this wonderful collection – now and forever.
