Drawing Cats from the Inside Out
Sunday, September 15, 2024, 1:00 pm - 4:30 pm

With artist and illustrator Tina J. Seemann as your guide, experience Wild Cats through your sketchbook in an engaging half-day drawing workshop. Featuring an in-class introduction to the anatomy of cats, Seemann presents basic and more advanced drawing techniques that will help you capture cats on the page. Working from the skeleton out, practice your drawing skills using unique and dynamic specimens held in the Museum’s collections and galleries.

This program develops participants’ art skills while also heightening their understanding and appreciation of the biology of wild cats. It is suitable for both beginners and those with some basic drawing skills. The program includes access to the Wild Cats exhibition.

Participants will be provided with a materials list and must be prepared to bring basic art materials.

Tina Seemann was a founding director of Max the Mutt College of Animation, Art & Design. In her role as an instructor there, she devised and taught the curriculum for the Animal Drawing courses to all 3 diploma streams: Animation, Illustration, and Concept Art.  Her strong background in animation provides a deep understanding of animal movement, even if creating a single illustration. She has brought her classes to ROM every fall term so that students could appreciate how skeletons determine form. As a member, Tina enjoys her drawing trips to the Museum.
