Join us on a ROMWalk Plus through Toronto’s 4th largest cemetery, a beautiful and tranquil place to visit, an opportunity enjoyed by many people and very often deer.
Park Lawn is where Etobicoke’s history comes to life through the stories of those laid to rest. Here you’ll find the graves of iconic sports figures like Conn Smythe and Harold Ballard, beloved reporter Gordon Sinclair and others — each marker a glimpse into the people who shaped Toronto’s past.
Interesting Fact: The cemetery was originally founded by local residents in 1892 as Humbervale Cemetery. It was managed by a board of directors who sold it to a prominent property developer wanting to convert it to a residential property. The original owners successfully retained ownership after the case ended up in the Supreme Court and sold it to Park Lawn in 1915 with a promise to maintain it as a cemetery in perpetuity.
