Celebrity Chef Corbin launches new menus throughout ROM foodservices
The Royal Ontario Museum (ROM), in partnership with Restaurant Associates (a division of Compass Group Canada), today announced Chef Corbin as the ROM’s new Executive Chef. Chef Corbin brings to the ROM over 20 years experience in some of Canada’s finest restaurants, including Holt Renfrew Toronto. He is also television host and food expert on Dinner Party Wars, Restaurant Makeover and Crash My Kitchen on Food Network and HGTV Canada.
Chef Corbin is designing new menus for ROM foodservices including c5 Restaurant Lounge, serving thoughtful, elegant world cuisine atop the Michael Lee-Chin Crystal, Food Studio Café, a creative eatery featuring global home cooking for the whole family, and the ROM’s resident catering service, c5 Catering.
“We are pleased to welcome Chef Corbin to our ROM foodservices team,” said Janet Carding, ROM Director and CEO. “His creation of distinctive gastronomic experiences will make dining here a fundamental and enjoyable part of everybody’s ROM visit.”
“My style is simple, but classic,” said Chef Corbin. “I believe the best meals use everyday ingredients to create beautifully presented dishes that are uncomplicated, accessible and appealing to everyone. The ROM is an iconic Toronto destination bringing people together to celebrate nature and culture. Dining at the ROM’s restaurants reflect the Museum’s heritage through food.”
The new c5 menu includes a variety of timeless tastes, appealing to visitors of all ages. Guests are welcomed at the table to Chef Corbin’s truffle potato chips with fleur de sel and fresh herbs. Choice appetizers include fresh-baked flatbread with seasonal toppings. Among the signature main dishes is a lobster BLT salad, with applewood-smoked bacon, crispy fried tomatoes, romaine hearts and tarragon dressing. Also on the menu is a classic pot pie, featuring free-range stewed chicken with Ontario root vegetables and potatoes. For dessert, diners may savour a rich apple Tarte Tatin with vanilla and almond ice cream.
In response to Museum visitor demand, c5 now offers expanded lunch restaurant hours seven days a week, open Monday through Sunday from 11 am to 3 pm, with brunch offerings on Saturday and Sunday. As a leader in event planning and catering, c5 will now be available for private evening functions seven days a week.
Ted Corrado, c5’s former Executive Chef, has been promoted to Regional Executive Chef for Compass Leisure (a subsidiary of Compass Group Canada). In his new role, Chef Ted will provide culinary oversight of leisure properties Canada-wide.
