School Visits: Auschwitz. Not long ago. Not far away.

During the exhibition, ROM is offering enhanced learning about the Holocaust through unique, curriculum-aligned school visit tours and experiences. School visits are free to students, Grade 6 to 12, participating in organized school visits from Ontario based schools.

Climate Change
An Active Voice for Climate Hope At ROM, we know that climate change is happening. We’ve seen the effects of it revealed in field and lab research, scientific study data, changing field expedition parameters, and much more. In a bold move, the Museum committed to share knowledge and insights from research, studies, data, and other fact-based evidence to help raise awareness of the effects of climate change, and in 2021, welcomed Dr. Soren Brothers, the first Allan and Helaine Shiff Curator of Climate Change. Established in 2008, the ROM’s Community Access Network (ROMCAN) is the ROM’s commitment to removing financial, social and cultural barriers to access for our diverse communities. ROMCAN is based on three pillars of social inclusion: access, representation, and participation. Through these pillars, we commit to being an institution that is entrenched in, reflective of, and in service to, our diverse community. Through ROMCAN, the ROM makes available 100,000 free visits every year. However, the defining feature of ROMCAN goes beyond free admission. Rather, ROMCAN is about the ROM’s close

Hack the ROM
Applications are open Apply Now Hack the ROM engages Grades 4-10 Indigenous students and their peers throughout Northern and Southern Ontario. Presented in partnership with celebrated game studio Ubisoft Toronto, this cohort-based sessional program builds students’ digital literacy skills through the development of digital media projects inspired by the Indigenous Ancestors at ROM. Participating classes regularly engage with staff and resources at ROM throughout this five-month program. ROM Indigenous Museum Educators (IMEs) use the Indigenous Ancestors and cultural belongings housed in the

ROM Makerspace
Launched in September 2016, this exciting space is a principal learning hub at the ROM. Students will respond to the Museum’s collections and research through problem-based learning using digital technologies and arts-based processes. Our mission is to support students in building personal and exploratory connections to the collections by encouraging innovation, collaboration, creativity, and inclusivity. Minecraft: Education Edition is a game-based learning platform that promotes creativity, collaboration, and problem-solving in an immersive digital environment. For several years, the ROM has invited students onto its pilot Minecraft server to build meaningful, personalized learning across a wide variety of themes including science, resource use, community, cultural respect, and the cascading impacts of individual actions. We are very excited to introduce a new hybrid learning Minecraft program that can be run from your own classroom! Virtual visits are coordinated with a ROM Educator at key
