ROM Friday Night Live returns with hot Spring lineup
#FNLROM returns on May 1 for its 7th season
(Toronto, Ontario – April 21, 2015) –The ROM’s Friday Night Live (FNL) series presented by Ford of Canada, returns this spring for nine consecutive weeks of Toronto’s favourite party. #FNLROM opens on May 1, 2015 and runs every Friday until June 26, 2015 from 7:00 pm to midnight. This adult-only event (19+) offers the city’s hottest DJs, live performances, food and drink, and a chance to experience the Museum and its exhibitions like never before.
This seventh season of #FNLROM delivers unique entertainment and cultural experiences with themed nights inspired by the ¡Viva México! exhibition, the Scotiabank CONTACT Photography Festival, Pompeii: In the Shadow of the Volcano exhibition, the PanAm Games, and more.
New this spring, ROM galleries are activated with wearable technology demonstrations, digital photo booths, and tales from the ROM’s vaults. Guests will enjoy international food fare prepared by Toronto’s hottest pop up food vendors.

May 1: FutuROMa
Contemplate the ROM’s next 100 years as you dive into the tech scene with Emulator Elite and MeU Wearable art and 3D Phaktory demonstrations, Sound Art featuring Barry Prophet and Ben Grossman, and a unique performance by musician and visual artist Zoo Owl, presented by Wavelength. Special musical performances by the Barenaked Ladies’ Kevin Hearn and DJs curated by ElectrCity, including Gray Moonen, Neon Knights, and Jason Palma round out the evening.
May 8: Cinco de Mayo
Enjoy the launch of the vibrant ¡Viva México! exhibition, sing along with Toronto’s best Mariachi band Mexico Amigo led by Jorge Lopez. Meet curators Alexandra Palmer and Chloë Sayer, and watch Mexican weavers in action while taking in special musical performances by Amanda Martinez, Quique Escamilla, and Los Otros.
May 15: PHOTO FLASH
A photography extravaganza, featuring the Generations: Annu Palakunnathu Matthew exhibition along with a digital photo booth, and projected images from the Scotiabank CONTACT Photography Festival. Meet members of TorontoCLICKS, a local photographer collective, and experience musical artists of the evening, presented by ListenLocalTO, including Xprime, Ivory Hours, Danger Bees, Mary Stewart, and Pacanomad.
May 22: Rock the Caravan
Explore Middle Eastern Archaeology and discover the ROM’s exhibition A Warlord's Stronghold: Mystery on the Silk Road with tales from the vaults with ROM curators and Silk Route artifacts. Intercultural musical offerings by DJ Ohm Hourani, Adham Shaikh, DJ M-ROCK, and members of JUNO award-winning group Jaffa Road.
May 29: Asia Today
Pan Asian Heritage Month brings some of Canada’s most sought after musicians to the ROM: Gurpreet Chana “The Tabla Guy” and Mason Bach offer a unity of cultures and sounds, 2015 JUNO nominee Alysha Brilla brings an original soul-folk sound, and Justin Nozuka explores the purity of minimalism.
June 5: Indigenous Now
Celebrate Aboriginal Heritage Month with performances from The Association for Native Development in the Performing & Visual Arts including musical artists Midnight Shine, Iskwe, Jayli Wolf, Brendt Diablo and Jace Martin. Meet Indigenous beadwork artisan Naomi Smith and visual artist Jay Bell while top DJS Classic Roots, Fawn, and DJ SHUB bring top Indigenous spin to FNL.
June 12: TOGA TOGA!
Enjoy a special sneak peek of Pompeii: In the Shadow of the Volcano at the ROM’s ultimate toga party. Living Roman statues and Roman re-enactors animate the galleries while Liz Loughrey and Adrian X (songwriter and guitarist on the album 'Take Care' by Drake) serenade in addition to musical performances by Fast Romantics, No Big Deal, and DJ Paolo Rocco.
June 19: FrancoSonic
Four hundred years of Francophone culture come to life with a special exhibition of Samuel de Champlain’s real journals and eclectic musical offerings in partnership with Alliance Française. Artists include Parisian electro pop band Grand Blanc, Montreal-based MAZ, DJ CRi, Adam Double You, and DJ L’As Depique, who carries influences from diverse Francophone places and Creole heritage.
The ROM gratefully recognizes the financial support of the Government of Ontario to commemorate the 400th Celebrations of the French Presence in Ontario through events like FNL FrancoSonic.
June 26: Let the Games Begin
The explosive finale of the FNL ROM season celebrates the PanAm Games with special Blood, Sweat & Olive Oil: 3,000 Years of Sport mini tours, and appearances by Australian music collective Bustamento, and Latin American vocalist Valeria Matzner . Play on the Monster Foosball Table and challenge your friends to Kixx Soccer or Game Gate Kinect while enjoying music by DJ Scuffs, Jason Palma, and DJ Wayuu.

Advance tickets are available online and at the door. General Admission is $15 and $13 for students. Beginning this season, ROM is offering early bird tickets online, with a staggered release of tickets by date. For guaranteed entry, purchase tickets in advance at www.rom.on.ca/fridays.
