Join ROM’s Craig Cipolla and Cree Educator Stan Wesley as they discuss a project to update the interpretation of a 2.3-metre cross-section of a 500-year-old Douglas-fir in the Life in Crisis: Schad Gallery of Biodiversity. Originally displayed and labeled in the 1920s with events in Western history that occurred as the tree was growing, this iconic specimen now features interpretation that addresses the problems inherent to this narrative and highlights the cultural significant of these old growth trees to Indigenous communities.
