Kensington Tours will match community donations up to $50,000,
with free admission passes distributed through ROMCAN partners
TORONTO, JUNE 16, 2020— The Royal Ontario Museum (ROM) and Kensington Tours announce the launch of a new donation-matching campaign to increase access to the ROM once it is safe to reopen and we can welcome visitors back to the Museum. The Toronto-based international tour operator will generously match donations from the public up to a maximum grant of $50,000, until June 30, 2020.
The ROM recognizes many families and individuals are facing major financial and mental health challenges due to COVID-19. Many people are turning to art, culture and nature to teach kids at home, to cope with anxiety, and to find meaning and happiness in turbulent times. This matching campaign is a meaningful “pay-it-forward” opportunity. ROM friends and supporters can double the impact of their donation and direct it to those who need it most, helping extend the museum experience to a diverse range of communities when it re-opens to the public once again.
Free full-access ROM admission passes from the matched-donation campaign will be distributed through ROM Community Access Network (ROMCAN), to the over 100 community groups it represents. A donation of $25 or more enables one free visit to the ROM; a gift of $100 enables a group of four people to visit the ROM together—and thanks to Kensington Tours, this impact will be doubled.
