D. Jim Mirkopoulos is Vice President of Cinespace Film Studios, the largest private owner, operator and developer of studio space in North America. A founder and builder of the film & TV production industry in Toronto, now in its 33rd year of operations, Cinespace operates one million square feet of studio and support space on over 42 acres in that City, and almost two million square feet on over 60 acres in Chicago.

Jim maintains direct links with the physical production heads of the major Hollywood studios as well as OTT platforms Netflix, Apple, Amazon and Disney, who rely on Cinespace to service all budget levels of film, television, commercial and digital media projects. He played a critical role in securing the Netflix Hub in the Port of Toronto, leveraging his relationship with Netflix to highlight the advantages of a new creative cluster in the Port. Jim was appointed Chair of the Ontario Minster of Culture’s Film and Television Advisory Panel to provide expert advice on ways to grow the film and television industries in Ontario. He serves as a Board Member of FilmOntario, Canada’s largest advocacy group for the screen-based industries, and he also sits on the City of Toronto’s Film, Television and Digital Media Board.
Institutional partnerships are critical to ensuring the growth of the future labour force, so Jim took a special interest in helping to create York University’s AMPD Motion Media Studio @ Cinespace, an 8,000 square foot training facility on Cinespace’s Kipling Studio Campus, and he also serves on the Advisory Committee for Sheridan College’s new graduate program in Creative Industries Management. Jim holds a Masters Degree in Business Administration from York University’s Schulich School of Business, and completed his undergraduate degree at Queen’s University. Prior to joining the family studio business back in 2000, Jim worked in the Real Estate Lending division of TD Canada Trust.
