Hack the ROM
Applications are open Apply Now Hack the ROM engages Grades 4-10 Indigenous students and their peers throughout Northern and Southern Ontario. Presented in partnership with celebrated game studio Ubisoft Toronto, this cohort-based sessional program builds students’ digital literacy skills through the development of digital media projects inspired by the Indigenous Ancestors at ROM. Participating classes regularly engage with staff and resources at ROM throughout this five-month program. ROM Minecraft
Minecraft: Education Edition is a game-based learning platform that promotes creativity, collaboration, and problem-solving in an immersive digital environment. For several years, the ROM has invited students onto its pilot Minecraft server to build meaningful, personalized learning across a wide variety of themes including science, resource use, community, cultural respect, and the cascading impacts of individual actions. The Indigenous Advisory Circle
The Indigenous Advisory Circle (IAC) was established in 2014 and is comprised of 6-8 members who meet each season to provide recommendations to the ROM School Programs' Indigenous education objectives and advise on other Museum initiatives as requested. The IAC representation is a mix of urban, rural, and remote communities that come from distinct Indigenous cultures and abilities. Members include elders, knowledge carriers, educators, artists, French speakers, youth, and allies with cross-disciplinary knowledges and interests in the arts, sciences, and technology.

Youth Cabinet
APPLY NOW Youth Cabinet (YC) is a group of Indigenous and non-Indigenous youth between the ages of 15-21 years old from Toronto and the Greater Toronto Area. The YC is facilitated by Indigenous Museum Educator Leslie McCue, and with the support of the Kiowa Wind Memorial Indigenous Youth Support Staff. The YC uses an Indigenous framework and a for-youth-by-youth philosophy to provide members with the tools they need to build leadership skills, explore their community, and tell their stories. ROM Makerspace
Launched in September 2016, this exciting space is a principal learning hub at the ROM. Students will respond to the Museum’s collections and research through problem-based learning using digital technologies and arts-based processes. Our mission is to support students in building personal and exploratory connections to the collections by encouraging innovation, collaboration, creativity, and inclusivity.
