The staff and volunteers of the ROM extend deepest condolences to the family of Kiowa Wind McComb. Kiowa was the Indigenous Youth Intern in the ROM Learning Department through the generous support of Miziwe Biik Aboriginal Employment and Training and was an exceptionally promising young man. He worked diligently to support the Museum’s efforts to infuse Indigenous knowledge and perspectives into the Museum’s educational experiences and was pivotal in the establishment of the ROM Youth Cabinet, a group creating museum content by youth for youth. Kiowa will be remembered as an emerging arts leader who inspired all those he met with his quiet determination and commitment to better his life, and the lives of others through education.

In collaboration with the Native Women’s Resource Centre of Toronto, a celebration of Kiowa’s life will be held at the Royal Ontario Museum on Friday, February 12.  The School Entrance doors on Queen’s Park will open at 4:00 pm and the service will begin at 5:00 pm in the ROM’s Signy and Cléophée Eaton Theatre.

In lieu of flowers, donations to support Kiowa's family will be welcomed at the service.  In remembrance, the ROM has also established the Kiowa Wind Memorial Indigenous Youth Internship.
